The sharpener handle is given more force than required or is pressed fastly. Sharpen slightly avoiding undue strain on the handle.

　　A malfunctioning friction wheel or eccentricity wheel or attrition wheel can be cause of this issue and should be replaced for smooth operation.

　　Friction wheel or eccentricity wheel can be blocked by the lint which should be removed by dry cloth.
